Alfredo joined the lab in 2020. He is primarily interested in using metaproteomics to analyze the specific metabolic function of microbial communities. Alfredo graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. He spent three years working on early drug discovery for Tuberculosis at the Infectious Diseases Research Institute in Seattle, WA, before pursuing a Ph.D. in the Genome Science and Technology program jointly sponsored by the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Alfredo attained his Ph.D. in 2020 under the direction of Dr. Robert L. Hettich. The University of Notre Dame recently appointed Alfredo to their College of Science Advisory Council as a young Alumnus.
