This May, the Kleiner Lab returned to Kill Devil Hills, NC for our annual spring retreat! Despite two days of rain, we packed in an incredible weekend of science, teamwork, and fun at the beach house in Kill Devil Hills, NC!
We had 10 fantastic research presentations from lab members, sparking exciting discussions and showcasing the breadth of work happening in the lab.
Our Lab Olympics featured a creative twist this year. A mock genomics and metagenomics study game that combined scientific thinking with friendly competition.
Even with the rain, we soaked up beach time (literally), including swimming in the rain and plenty of opportunities to relax and recharge.
One of the highlights? Our Lab Superlatives, where we celebrated each other with fun awards and lots of laughs.
After hours were filled with games, music, a dance party, and tons of team bonding.
And of course, we ate very well, Italian night, Indian night, and Latin night brought delicious variety to each evening.
It was a retreat full of collaboration, connection, and shenanigans. Already counting down to the next one!
