High-resolution mass spectrometer installed

A brand new QExactive HF-X mass spectrometer has been installed in METRIC. This instrument will be central to the metaproteomics focused part of the Kleiner Lab research program. The mass spectrometer is coupled to a nanoLC system, which allows for two-dimensional separation of peptides by liquid chromatography.

Initially this instrument will support our research project on the “Development and evaluation of metaproteomics methods for root-associated microbes”  sponsored through a grant from the Plant Soil Microbial Community Consortium. We will also use the instrument for research on a variety of other microbiomes and development of novel metaproteomics based methods and technologies.
