Alfredo Blakeley-Ruiz Receives the ISME Journal’s Best Paper Award

We are excited to announce that a publication led by Kleiner Lab senior research scholar Dr. J. Alfredo Blakely-Ruiz and co-authored by members of the Kleiner lab in collaboration with Dr. Casey Theriot’s lab has been selected as a recipient of The ISME Journal’s Best Paper Award for 2025! This award recognizes high-quality research with an outstanding impact on the field of microbial ecology.

The paper, titled Dietary protein source alters gut microbiota composition and function, used an integrated metaproteomics-metagenomics approach to explore the impact of dietary protein source on the gut microbiome, demonstrating wide-ranging effects on its composition and function independent of protein amount.
